Armstrong given the green light to race in Australia

The International Cycling Union has cleared the seven-times Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong to relaunch his career in January's Tour Down Under in South Australia, even though he won't have met the sport's requirement of six months' prior notice to return to cycling.

The 37-year-old Armstrong retired in 2005, and announced details of his comeback only last month.

But the UCI has relaxed its rule requiring cyclists to be available for drug testing for six months before returning to competition.
