All Black captain Richie McCaw will start on the bench in Canterbury's Air New Zealand Cup quarter-final against Tasman in Christchurch on Friday night.
McCaw returned to the Canterbury side this week following his mandatory break after the Tri-Nations.
The Canterbury coach Rob Penney has reverted to his top side with Paul Williams, Casey Laulala, Tim Bateman, Issac Ross, Greg Sommerville and Wyatt Crockett all returning to the starting lineup.
