Unheralded Igor Kunitsyn upset former world number one Marat Safin in 3 sets in an all-Russian Kremlin Cup tennis final in Moscow to clinch his maiden ATP title.

Kunitsyn is ranked 71st in the world, while Safin was looking for his first title in 4 years.

Earlier, world number one Jelena Jankovic overpowered Vera Zvonareva in straight sets in the women's final to win her third title in a row.

Meanwhile German qualifier and world number 125 Philipp Petzschner completed a remarkable week's tennis when he beat French eighth seed Gael Monfils in straight sets in the Vienna Open final.

24 year old Petzschner had never made it past the quarter-finals of an ATP tournament before arriving in Vienna.
