Southlanders feel confident against Wellington

6:20 am on 17 October 2008

The Southland rugby coach Dave Henderson feels they have as good a chance as anyone of beating Wellington tonight and making the Air New Zealand Cup final.

The Stags travel north as clear underdogs against the top qualifiers, who'll have all of their All Blacks back in their squad.

Henderson says they got back to their game plan against Bay of Plenty last weekend and backed themselves to have a go and the big thing to come out of that is confidence.

He says they are very much a team with few stars, but feels that anything can happen on the night.

Henderson says they failed to play the full 80 minutes when they lost to Wellington earlier in the season, but he feels they're overcoming that.

It has been raining in the capital this morning, but is forecast to clear.
