The Southland winger Willie Rickards has signed a contract to play Super 14 and Currie Cup rugby for the South African side, the Lions until the end of the 2009 season.
Rickards has also played sevens for New Zealand.
Rickards is in the reserves for tonight's Air New Zealand Cup semi-final in Wellington.
