NZ slips down at World Golf Champs

6:48 pm on 19 October 2008

New Zealand's chances have blown away in the winds in the final round of the Eisenhower Trophy world amateur team golf championships in Adelaide.

After an exciting start, when New Zealand moved to within three shots of second place on 14-under par, they faded to a share of seventh place with Spain and Argentina near the end of the day's play.

The trio of Danny Lee, Jared Pender and James Gill are on four under par with the winds blowing strongly for the first time this week on the coastal Royal Adelaide course.

Scotland are at home in the conditions, racing away to 25-under to open an eight-shot lead over Sweden and the USA, who are tied for second, six shots clear of Italy.
