Chelsea win big

3:33 pm on 19 October 2008

Chelsea made light of their injury crisis to cruise to a 5-0 win at Middlesbrough as Liverpool were forced to produce another fightback to beat Wigan and keep pace with the English Premiership football league leaders.

Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari was without seven first-team regulars for the trip north but Boro were still powerless to resist.

The win ensured Chelsea remain top of the table on goal difference from Liverpool, who scored twice in the last five minutes to secure a 3-2 win over 10-man Wigan.

Arsenal moved into third after a 3-1 win over Everton.

Manchester United move up to 4th after a 4-nil win at home over West Bromich Albion.

Three matches finished goalless... Bolton and Blackburn, Portsmouth and Aston Villa, and and Sunderland and Fulham.
