Two tennis gold medals for NZ at Commonwealth Youth Games

Finn Tearney and Logan MacKenzie made tennis New Zealand's most successful sport at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune, India, by producing two gold medal winning performances in the singles and doubles finals.

Tearney, who was seeded third, won his singles gold medal, defeating the fourth seed Hendrik Coertzen of South Africa 6-2 6-4a day after he and Mackenzien won the doubles final.

The New Zealand team won three gold medals, with the other going to Elizabeth Lamb in the high jump.

More than 1300 athletes from 71 countries are competing, athletics, badminton, boxing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, tennis, weightlifting and wrestling.
