Scotland's John Higgins saw off a battling comeback from Welshman Ryan Day to win snooker's British Grand Prix 9-7 in Glasgow.

Higgins had been 5-2 ahead in the best of 17 frame final after the opening session which he then extended to 7-2 before Day, who has never won a ranking tournament, won five of the next six frames to get back to 8-7.

But Higgins held his nerve to secure his fourth Grand Prix title and his first trophy since his second World Championship win in May last year.
