FA to investigate Drogba punch claims

The English Football Association says it will launch an inquiry into Didier Drogba's comments in his autobiography that he should have punched Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic.

In the book the Chelsea striker said he wished he had punched the Serbian after being sent off during the Champions League final in May.

The FA says the remarks will be studied their proper context to see if the Ivory Coast star had brought the game into disrepute.

Drogda wrote that he would have understood being sent off if he had punched Vidic and nown wishes he had.

It is not the first time that the FA have launched an inquiry into comments in an autobiography.

In 2002, the former Manchester United Roy Keane was banned for five games and fined $400,000 after he admitted deliberately injuring an opponent.
