Warriner chases top ranking in final triathlon world cup meet

Samantha Warriner can finish the international triathlon season ranked world number one, if she can finish seventh or better in this weekend's final world cup round in Mexico.

If she finishes seventh it will leave her draw equal with current world number one Australian Felicity Abram, but she'd go to the top of the rankings on countback having won a world cup race this season.

Warriner finished a disappointing 16th at the Beijing Olympics in August but has been a consistent performer generally this season finishing second in the

Fellow New Zealand triathletes Andrea Hewitt and Kris Gemmell in the men's event are also competing.
