Alinghi wants next America's Cup in 2010

The America's Cup champions Alinghi hope to organise the next edition of yachting's showpiece event in 2010, despite ongoing legal wrangles.

The syndicate says the event will once again be held in the Spanish port of Valencia but with a new and faster class of yachts.

The Swiss team and US challenger Oracle are embroiled in a long-running court battle over the staging of the 33rd America's Cup.

However Alinghi says entries are re-opening until December 15th 2008 for a multi-challenger America's Cup in modern class race yachts in Valencia.

It's proposing pre-regattas in 2009 on the existing Version 5 ACC yachts.
