The Kwazulu-Natal Sharks have won South Africa's Currie Cup provincial rugby final, beating the Blue Bulls 14 - 9 in Durban.

Ruan Pienaar and Francois Steyn scored the tries for the Sharks and Pienaar and Frederic Michalak notched the goals while Morne Steyn scored all the Blue Bulls' points with two penalties and a drop goal.

And overseas-based players have been excluded from the 28-man Springbok squad for the end-of-year tour to Britain.

Ruan Pienaar's earmarked for the No 10 jersey while regular hooker and captain John Smit will be looked at as a tighthead prop.

Hooker Adriaan Strauss and flyhalf Peter Grant have been overlooked while controversial flanker Luke Watson made himself unavailable prior to the team announcement, saying he had become the victim of a media witch-hunt.
