Clark to check shoulder prgress

11:17 am on 25 October 2008

The Australian cricketer Stuart Clark will join Brett Lee in the Feroz Shah Kotla nets today to check the state of the elbow problem that has temporarily derailed his tour of India.

The paceman has battled elbow soreness since the first Test in Bangalore, needing a cortisone injection and missing out in Mohali to allow Victorian Peter Siddle a first Test cap.

However, with Lee struggling for rhythm and swing and the spin attack capable only of a containing role, Clark is desperately needed for the third Test starting on Wednesday.

Coach Tim Nielsen says Clark, who has not bowled since the Mohali Test began, needed to prove his ability to bowl spells back-to-back.
