Ford driver Jamie Whincup produced three flawless races to extend his V8 Supercar championship lead, sweeping round 11 at the Gold Coast this weekend.

Whincup added victories in races two and three to the opening race he won on Saturday to boost his overall championship lead to 75 points with three rounds of the series remaining.

The Team Vodafone driver beat defending series champion Garth Tander, who had three second places in his Holden and pushed Whincup to the brink in every race.

The only other man in contention for this year's championship, Ford's Mark Winterbottom, finished third overall with three third placings.

The series now moves to Bahrain for the Desert 400 from November 6 to 8, with the remaining two rounds in Launceston and Sydney's Oran Park.
