Rain costs a day of final Bangladesh Test

7:27 am on 26 October 2008

The first day's play in the second and final cricket Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand has been washed out by steady rain in Dhaka.

Play is now scheduled to start at four o'clock this afternoon with a half-hour extension added to the remaining four days of the Test to help make up for some of the lost time.

New Zealand lead the two-match series 1-0 after securing a three-wicket victory in the opening match in Chittagong.
