Hastings rider Jeremy Yates has a 25 second lead after the first two stages of the Cycle Tour of Southland.
Yates won the 82km second stage from Invercargill to the top of Bluff Hill after this morning's team time trial got the event underway.
Heath Blackgrove, who won the time trial is second overall.
Stage 3 tomorrow morning is a 165km ride from Invercargill to Gore.
