The Wellington Phoenix head coach Ricki Herbert has called in the reinforcements to bolster his squad ahead of their A-League football clash with Sydney on Friday.
Midfielder Troy Hearfield and defender Manny Muscat boarded a plane for Sydney today to join the Phoenix as the team gears up for the important match against the Hyundai A-League's glamour boys at the Sydney Football Stadium.
Coming off a lacklustre 2-nil loss to Perth Glory in Perth on Sunday, Herbert believes it's important to extend his squad and increase his options for the round 11 match.
He says it's a case of adding some flexibility to the squad... it's been a long road trip and he wants to inject some fresh players who can offer them something difficult if they deem it necessary.
The Phoenix are bottom of the table.
