Gambir to miss final test after losing appeal

5:53 am on 5 November 2008

The in-form Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir will have to sit out the final cricket test against Australia starting tomorrow in Nagpur after losing his appeal against a one-match ban.

On his way to a double century in last week's test in New Delhi, Gambhir was cited for elbowing the Australian pace bowler Shane Watson, who was fined for his part in the incident.

The Indian Board refuses to accept the decision, but the appeal verdict is final, and can't be questioned by a player or a board.
