Australian cricketers braced for Indian revolt

The Australian cricketers are half expecting India to name their banned opening batsman Gautam Gambhir in the team for the fourth and final test in Nagpur starting this afternoon.

Australia must win the test to share the series, but the main issue concerns whether or not the home team will be brazen enough to name Gambhir in the team after his failed appeal against a one match ban relating to an incident in the third test in which he scored a double century.

Mahendra Dhoni, who has taken over as India's captain following the retirement of Anil Kumble, said he was "almost sure" Gambhir would not play.

The ICC has been working to avoid a repeat of a farce in 2001 at Centurion Park in South Africa when India named Virender Sehwag despite a ban for excessive appealing and a test against the Proteas was declared unofficial after the referee Mike Denness was locked out of the ground.
