India ended Australia's three-year unbeaten run in test cricket with a resounding 172-run win in the fourth test in Nagpur for a 2-nil series win.

The spin bowlers Amit Mishra and Harbhajan Singh shared seven wickets to bowl out Australia for 209 in their second innings with almost a session to spare on the last day. The tourists lost their last 7 wickets for 59 runs.

The Australian spinner Jason Krejza, who took 12 wickets in his debut test, was named man of the match, while the 20 year old Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma, who took 15 wickets in the four tests, was player of the series.

The Australian captain Ricky Ponting was fined 20 percent of his match fee and the rest of the team 10 percent for their slow over rate during the match.

India are second in the ICC test rankings and only 13 points separate them from Australia who return home now for a two-test series against New Zealand later this month.
