The USA will play Korea DPR in the first-ever final of the women's under-17 football world cup on Sunday, after dramatic semi-final wins over Germany and England respectively in Christchurch.

The North Koreans were too good across the park for England at QEII Stadium, going up 2-nil before half time with goals to Ho Un-Byol and Jon Myong-Hwa.

The young Lionesses clawed one back in the 72nd minute through Rebecca Jane but lost 2-1, while the Americans had to come from behind to win by the same score over the European champions.

Germany went one up within six minutes through Alexandra Popp and led for two thirds of the game, but Vicki DiMartino equalised for the USA in the 63rd minute before Courtney Verloo scored the late winner in the 81st minute.

The final's in Auckland on Sunday afternoon.
