Britain's Andy Murray has booked his place in the semi-finals of the Masters Cup tennis tournament in Shanghai.
The 21-year-old Scot won his second group match 6-4 6-2 against the tenacious Frenchman Gilles Simon, who upset Roger Federer in the opening round.
Federer kept alive his semi-final hopes with an unconvincing win over the Czech Radek Stepanek, the world number 27 who was called in to replace Andy Roddick when the American injured his ankle during a warmup.
