How century saves NZ cricketers

12:38 pm on 14 November 2008

The New Zealand opener Jamie How's form has returned at the right time as he saved the Blacks Caps from a humiliating first innings score against New South Wales.

New Zealand was dismissed for 266 on the first day of the four-day cricket tour match with How making 170.

How says it's been a while since he scored a century in the longer game, and glad his form came back after a mediocre performance in Bangladesh.

He's hoping his team-mates are saving their runs for the two Tests against Australia. The New South Wales fixture is their only warm-up match.

How completely dominated the Black Caps' batting effort, his top first class score dwarfing any other contributions.

Ross Taylor was the next highest scorer with 31 and no other batsman made more than 17 as most of them struggled against a pace attack minus five of the top bowlers.

How says it was just his day and he's confident the other batsmen will come right.

New South Wales was 15 without loss at stumps.
