The former All Black centre Luke McAlister says he's still to decide whether he will leave his English club Sale to return to New Zealand at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old says he'll discuss his future when his father travels to England.

McAlister joined the Sharks on a two-year deal after last year's World Cup, joining an exodus of leading New Zealand players to European clubs.

But the All Blacks have a policy of not selecting players based overseas, meaning McAlister will need to return home if he is add to his 22 caps.

McAlister has been a key figure in Sale's impressive start to the season, but All Blacks coach Graham Henry recently questioned whether the centre was developing as a player with Sale.
