Rugby's presented its case to the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne for a return to the Games.

The sport's governing body the IRB wants the seven format included from 2016 saying it would help expand the game which is already played in 116 countries and also provide countries such as Argentina and Fiji with greater medal opportunities.

Rugby was originally introduced to the Olympics in 1900 and played at three other Games up until 1924 and is one of seven sports campaigning for inclusion in 2016.
