Juicy pitch in store for first test at Gabba

Brisbane's wet weather looks set to remove Australian cricket's new spinner Jason Krejza from the equation for the first test against the Black Caps starting on Thursday.

A heavy storm on Sunday night and showers and overcast skies forecast for the rest of the week increases Australia's chances of picking two all-rounders, Andrew Symonds and Shane Watson.

The Gabba curator says there'll be plenty of juice in the traditionally pace-friendly pitch for an Australian bowling attack almost certainly to be spearheaded by Brett Lee who seems to have shaken off a virus.
