Marlborough clubs extend deadline on Tasman rugby future

6:48 am on 18 November 2008

Marlborough rugby clubs have extended their deadline for the Tasman union to provide them with an acceptable budget.

The Marlborough sub-union had given Tasman until today, to provide details on how it would substantially reduce a deficit more than $600,000 otherwise it would pull out of the combineed Nelson-Marlborough setup.

However, the clubs have now agreed to wait until November the 28th, the day the New Zealand Rugby Union has given Tasman to meet its financial criteria to remain in the Air New Zealand Cup.
