The money man behind Formula One Bernie Ecclestone has floated the idea of gold medals being awarded to race winners next year, and the world championship would be won by whoever wins the most medals.

78 year old Ecclestone it would lead to more drivers overtaking, and he maintains everyone's happy with the idea.

But it has to be considered by the FIA's world motor sport council which next meets on the 12th of December.

Points would still be awarded for the constructors' championship.
