The Australian captain Darren Lockyer has warned his side that former Kangaroos coach Wayne Bennett will instill the Kiwis with real belief they can topple the reigning world champions in Saturday night's rugby league world cup final.

The Former Australia and Brisbane coach Bennett has kept a low-profile as Stephen Kearney's assistant and advisor during the Kiwis' campaign.

But Lockyer is wary of his six-time premiership coach Bennett's experience in preparing players for big games.

Lockyer says Bennett will have a big influence in instilling confidence in a Kiwis side which has little final or grand final experience.
