The ASB Tennis Classic's latest signing Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia is at a career-high singles ranking of 20th after making eight quarter-finals or better at WTA events.
The 2005 champion in Auckland finished her year well, with wins over Serena Williams then Svetlana Kuznetzova at the French and US Opens.
She says her win over Williams was just what she needed after an indifferent start to the year.
Katarina Srebotnik joins the fourth-ranked Elena Dementieva, No11 Nadia Petrova and No12 Caroline Wozniacki making the top four seeds the highest in the January tournament's history.
