The cycling greats Lance Armstrong and Alberto Contador will train together for the first time in the Astana team in Spain's Canary Islands this month.

The Astana team says they'll take part in the November 30-December 8 session on Tenerife,

The seven-time Tour de France champion Armstrong announced his comeback to cycling three years after retiring.

Contador, who has won all three of the sport's major Tours, had hinted he could quit Astana following Armstrong's signing but the 25-year-old later said he had been given assurances he would remain team leader.

Armstrong, 37, has said he will compete in the Tour of Italy next year, but is yet to confirm whether he will race in the Tour de France.
