Otago has upset Wellington on the opening day of the Men's Inter-provincial golf championships in Nelson and Waikato edged Auckland.
Dunedin greenkeeper Andrew Hobbs chalked up his 50th match by guiding Otago to a 3-2 victory over one of the favourites.

Southland lead section one with two wins, with Northland on a win and a loss. Defending champions Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay and North Harbour had one win with a bye today, while Aorangi South Canterbury and Taranaki were winless.
Section play continues until Friday with semifinals and final on Saturday.
