Wrist injury not threatening Ponting's international career say medical staff

Australian cricket medical staff are dismissing speculation that captain Ricky Ponting's career could be cut short by a wrist injury.

Ponting will visit a surgeon in Melbourne tomorrow for assessment of his right wrist, after he had a screw inserted in July to repair tissue and tendon damage.

Medical staff say the visit had been planned six weeks ago and speculation that it was because he's experiencing unexpected after-effects from the operation was incorrect.
