West Indies head into tour opener on diet of limited overs cricket

8:01 am on 5 December 2008

The West Indies cricket coach John Dyson has no concerns about his side having just one warmup match before taking on the Black Caps in their test series.

The tourists start a 3-day match against Auckland at Eden Park today, having not played a test match since their series loss to Australia in the Caribbean in June.

Dyson says this warmup match is important for them but these days limited preparation when touring is the norm.

Meanwhile batsman Martin Guptill returns to the Auckland side after dislocating his knee in October and young opener Jeet Raval has been included for the match with Scott Styris unavailable and English import Steven Croft rested.
