Black Caps set to end use of travelling psychologist

7:28 am on 6 December 2008

The battery of hangers on involved with the New Zealand cricket team under the reign of John Bracewell is to be reduced.

New Black Caps coach Andy Moles says after reviewing the support arrangements with skipper Dan Vettori, the match day support will now involve himself, the team manager, a physiotherapist, a fitness trainer and a video analyst.

Moles says that means a reduction from around nine to five, with specialist batting and bowling coaches not involved, no media liaison person and no sports psychologist in Terry Hermanson who's been a regular in the team managerment.

Moles says he'll discuss with the team when they meet for the first test against the West Indies as to whether they want a psychologist on call each day.
