CD take first innings points

Central Districts have taken first innings points in their State Championship cricket match at Napier, where Otago will start the final day on 211 for six, an overall lead of 190.

Resuming on 316 for seven Central added 63 runs to ensure first innings points after dismissing Otago for 357.

Otago were in trouble early in their second innings at 48 for four in the 20th over before Greg Todd and Nathan McCullum led a recovery.

McCullum made 44 and Todd 74.

In Auckland the West Indies finished their drawn opening match on 431 for seven in reply to Auckland's 587 for seven. Ramnaresh Sarwan retired unbeaten on 158.
