Jones delighted for McIntosh's selection

The Auckland cricket captain Richard Jones says opener Tim McIntosh is thoroughly deserving on his elevation to the Black Caps.

McIntosh replaces opener Aaron Redmond in the squad for the test series against the West Indies which starts in Dunedin on Thursday.

McIntosh had a good look at the tourists in their tour match at Eden Park, scoring 78.

Jones says McIntosh has scored some good runs for the last couple of years and has worked really hard on his game.

He says the left hander is a classic opener who bats for a long time once he gets settled, which is something New Zealand's crying out for.
