The 22-year-old New Zealand sailor has Adam Minoprio is heading south from Malaysia to prepare for the annual Sydney Hobart race after knocking out the World Match Racing Tour winner out of the Monsoon Cup.
Minoprio beat Ian Williams 3-2 after trailing 2-0 and will be a driver on Syd Fischer's Ragamuffin in his first Hobart race.
The fleet expected to face the starter on Boxing Day, 26 December currently numbers 106, up 24 on last year's.
International entries are very strong with 12 yachts representing nine countries, including New Zealand, Germany, USA, Switzerland, The Netherlands, United Kingdom and France.
The biggest are Bob Oatley's Wild Oats XI and Grant Warrington's Skandia. both 30 metre super maxis.
