Whincup's team cleans up at V8 awards

New V8 Supercar motor racing champion Jamie Whincup has won his second successive Barry Sheene Medal as the sport's best and fairest as his teamscooped the awards in Sydney.

Whincup was presented with the medal at last night's gala awards dinner, part of a virtual clean sweep of the V8 awards for his Ford team.

Team Vodafone also won the champion team and best presented team awards, and played a huge role in helping Ford to win the manufacturer of the year title.

Whincup also won the award for the most pole positions this season.

Veteran Russell Ingall's Supercheap Auto Holden was named the sport's most improved car

Darwin's Hidden Valley Raceway won the award for V8 round of the year
