England cricketers make donation to Mumbai victims

5:55 am on 10 December 2008

The England cricketers will donate half of their match fees from the first test against India starting tomorrow in Chennai, to families of the victims of last month's attacks in Mumbai.

In a statement delivered by batsman Alastair Cook, the team said the past week had been very difficult for them, and that their return to India was a "public statement in support for the Indian people following the tragic events in Mumbai."

Alistair Cook says the team made a massive pact in producing the statement, and nothing else can distract them now from playing cricket individually and as a side.
