Athens football match will go ahead

5:55 am on 10 December 2008

Today's European Champions League group football match between Panathinaikos and Anorthosis Famagusta will go ahead despite three days rioting in Greece.

A Panathinaikos official says the game will go ahead as planned unless something extreme happens before the match.

The funeral of 15-year-old Alexandros Grigoropoulos, whose shooting by police on Saturday sparked the riots, took place today.

Panathinaikos need a draw to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League while the Cypriot side must win to go through with Inter Milan who have already qualified from Group B.
