6:01 pm on 10 December 2008

The National Football League, will cut 150 jobs over the couple of months citing the global economic recession as the cause.

The cuts, which will affect slightly more than 13 percent of the NFL's 1,100-strong staff throughout the United States, should be complete shortly after Super Bowl in Tampa in February.

The league announced last month it would lower ticket prices for the upcoming post-season by 10 percent.
