The Golf Coast united goalkeeper Scott Higgins has joined Wellington Phoenix football club as a short-term injury replacement for Mark Paston.

The 32-year-old Higgins will join the Phoenix for at least four weeks, after Paston suffered badly bruised his ribs in last weekend's 6-1 loss to Adelaide United.

Higgins has previously played for Queensland Roar and Adelaide United and has signed with Gold Coast which will join the competition next season.

Glen Moss will take over the number one keeping role in Paston's absence.
