The Australian government will spend 50 million dollars on a bid to bring the football world cup to Australia in 2018.
The money will be spent over three years with Football Australia to formally lodge it's bid by the end of 2010 with a decision regarding who will host the 2018 world cup expected to be made in 2011.
New Zealand Football has indicated it will try and piggy-back on success Australia might have in hosting the event and look to host pool matches here.
