Three New Zealand golfers are among the leaders going into the second round of the Australian Golf Open at Royal Sydney.

The World Cup pair David Smail and Mark Brown set the early pace yesterday with rounds of 67, ending the day tied for fourth, and the 18 year old amateur star Danny Lee posted a 68.

Three Australians shot course record 65s - Mathew Goggin, runner up at last week's Austalian PGA championship, Ewan Porter, and Strephen Dartnell, a second year pro who came through the final qualifying tournament on Monday.

The incorrigible American John Daly stole the show in a way, by smashing a spectator's camera into a tree when he tried to take his photograph after he had pushed his tee shot into the rough.

Daly posted a 78 and he has only four players behind him.
