India fight back after Strauss century in Chennai

The Indian cricketers fought back on the opening day of their first test against England in Chennai to have the visitors 229 for 5.

The England opening batsman Andrew Strauss brought up his 13th test century, scoring 123 after a century opening paretnership with Alastair Cook.

But India's pace bowler Zaheer Khan struck back in the final session dismissing Ian Bell and skipper Kevin Pietersen cheaply.

The players, wearing black arm bands, observed a minute's silence before the start of play in memory of the victims of last month's Mumbai attacks.
