The bottomless pockets of Toulon owner Mourad Boujellal could be about to be tested again as he looks to turn his rugby club into the best in France.

The latest name reported to be meeting with the club is the Wallabies flanker George Smith.

The French newspaper L'Équipe is reporting that Smith had a meeting with Boujellal, with a view to a contract starting next June after the Super 14 - the end of his current Brumbies contract.

Toulon, who are coached by Tana Umaga and have a plethora of overseas stars, are currently languishing in 12th place in the French Top 14.
