Actor Russell Crowe has told the South Sydney league club he owns it's time they stood on their own feet.
In a video Christmas message to Rabbitohs members and fans, Crowe said while he and sponsors will be financing an upgrade of the club's facilities this year, he'll be standing aside at some stage, and the most important thing is to increase the club's membership base to about 15-thousand from it's current 6-thousand.
Crowe and businessman Peter Holmes a Court bought a 75 per cent stake in the NRL club for $3 million in 2006.
