The great Sachin Tendulkar brought up his 41st test century off the last ball of the match to guide the Indian cricketers to a remarkable win in their first test against England in Chennai.
Tendulkar swept off-spinner Graeme Swann to fine-leg for the winning boundary as India achieved the fourth highest successful run chase in history to stun England by six wickets.
The hosts achieved their improbable victory target of 387 on a wearing wicket in a special victory for 35 year old Tendulkar whose home town is Mumbai.
Yuvraj Singh made a significant contribution to the result with an unbeaten 85 not out in a 5th wicket stand of 163 with Tendulkar.
The second Test starts in the northern town of Mohali on Friday.
